An excellent introduction to the Penfolds Shiraz style, this is rich and chocolaty with oodles of plum, blackberry, warm pavement, green peppercorn and bay leaf. It's opulent but well-structured. There's a little alcohol warmth, but it gets wrapped in satiny fruit and spicy tannins. It's muscular but harmonious and capable of aging until around 2029.
