Foxen Julia's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017
|Region||California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley|
The tang of pomegranate cuts through the layers of fresh thyme, dewy sage, Earl Grey tea and singed tobacco on the nose of this bottling. Similar flavors consume the palate, where bright acidity cuts into the dried sage and crisp red fruits.
The 2017 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is lithe, sensual and quite delicate, with pretty floral and savory notes that give the wine its distinctive upper register. Sweet dried cherry, dried flowers, mint and licorice add nuance. In the glass, the Julia's is a touch ethereal and fleeting. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.
