Tenet Wines The Pundit Syrah 2017
|Region||United States, Washington, Columbia Valley|
The 2017 Syrah The Pundit Columbia Valley is another deeply colored 2017 and offers a big, rich, medium to full-bodied profile that carries classic Syrah peppery herbs, chocolate, and darker fruits, with a touch of gaminess emerging with time in the glass. Nicely textured, balanced, and lengthy, this incredibly satisfying Syrah does everything right. It should drink nicely for 5-6 years or more.
Full ruby-red. Aromas of kirsch, licorice pastille, espresso and dark chocolate are complemented by a whiff of smoked meat. Almost shockingly fat and ripe on the palate, offering mouthfilling flavors of black fruits, licorice, spices and dried herbs. This plush, sweet Syrah has just enough acidity to maintain its shape. Finishes with ripe, smooth tannins and a note of licorice. An element of savory complexity prevents this almost jammy wine from coming off as heavy. A seriously hedonistic wine that's hard to fault at its gentle price.
The aromas pop, with notes of black raspberry, earth, dried herb, smoked meat and blue fruit. It's soft and velvety in feel, with a finish that carries. There's a lot of wine packed into the bottle. Give it some additional time to see it at its best.
Compact and tightly structured, featuring demure black cherry and dusty herb flavors that finish with a slight tannic grip. Best after 20. 15,000 cases made.
