Freemark Abbey Sycamore Cabernet Sauvignon 1997
Wine EnthusiastA dry-smelling wine, with hints of cinnamon, pine bark, eucalyptus and earth, that unfold slowly on the palate to reveal bright red cherries and berries. It's big and it's structured, yet finishes smooth and silky, blending in coffee and tea notes. Approachable now, but better after 2005.
Wine SpectatorRipe and flavorful, with mature cherry and currant flavors that are deftly balanced, turning dry, with anise, earth and herbal notes that reveal complexity and concentration. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Drink now through 2010. 2,700 cases made.
