It's richer and less minty than usual but I like the richness in this vintage, which can use a little gras; so anticipate a wine with more apple and less spearmint; crunchy stuff. The parcel is called Heel and it's to the right of Anrecht, from which one of the great trio of en-bloc wines comes. This is a marked triumph in '14.

Wine AdvocateFrom 30-year-old vines in the filet of the cru, and bottled with 16 grams of residual sugar, the 2014 Zeltinger Himmereich Riesling Kabinett halbtrocken is a "charmingly dry" wine, says Selbach. The wine opens very clear, cool, delicately pure and flinty on the nose, with Cox's orange apple aromas. This is a beautifully juicy and delicate Kabinett with a very fine and vivacious acidity, as well as a filigreed Jugendstil structure; it has perfect grip and apple and salty stony flavors in the stimulating finish. Excellent!
