This 3-acre vineyard in the heart of the Santa Maria Bench was planted 43 years ago, and is named for Dick's great uncle, Ernesto Wickenden. This little vineyard is situated in a wind-protected swale in between the Cambria and Byron vineyards, at the mouth of Tepesquet Canyon, and is farmed by Bill and our vineyard crew. The wine is bright and lively, and displays notes of citrus, pear and melon, with a long clean "minerally" finish.

Wine EnthusiastOne of the more anticipated alternative whites from Santa Barbara County each year, this wine shows light honey brittle, sour tangerine and a touch of sour cream on a bright and lithe nose. The palate offers delicate cherimoya and soft nectarine fruit cut by lime juice and orange rinds, proving light but bursting with energy and flavors.

Wine AdvocateMade from 100% Chenin Blanc, from the sandy, loamy soils of the Ernesto Wickenden Vineyard in Santa Maria, the 2014 Chenin Blanc is a juicy, exotic white. It has lots of green herbs, honeyed minerality and citrus in a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured style. It will be incredibly versatile on the dinner table, and while I'd drink it over the coming couple of years, I wouldn't be shocked to see it evolve nicely for longer.
