Chateau de Saint Cosme Little James Basket Press Blanc 2015
The drive, freshness and aromatic expression in this wine stem from the mountain foothills of the Minervois area and our field selection of Viognier plays a lead role. The Viognier and Sauvignon blend is not traditional and may even seem iconoclastic. But the two varieties pair marvellously from opposite ends of the spectrum. One imparts freshness, an explosion of aromas and acidity, whilst the other brings ripeness, fleshiness and depth. Just like for the white Côtes du Rhône, achieving balance and freshness is crucial. I can quite honestly say that the 2015 white Little James is one of the best we have ever made. It offers up a real cornucopia of tropical fruits on the nose, followed by fresh, saline texture and depth on the palate. This is a white bistrot-style wine - in the true sense of the word - that should be paired with simple foods. You don't have to think with Little James, just let yourself enjoy its easy drinking style! As for the red, you will see that the label has changed slightly, or should I say, improved. I am sure that you will find this new 'dual-faceted' bottle appealing! Anise, limestone, apricot, grapefruit, lychee, boxwood and mango.
