Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
|Appellation||Stags Leap District|
The Tasting Panel " Brambly raspberry spices up the aromatics; dusted rose petal tannins play into a graphite "tightness." It eventually relaxes into espresso savoriness and a spotlight of regal dark fruit-tart and earthbound-with a slate finish. Structure abounds, but the finish of cranberry-pomegranate favors the sumptuous expression of the region's terroir. "
James SucklingA silky red with plum, blackcurrant and subtle chocolate aromas and flavors. Full body and a dense center palate, yet this remains refined and beautiful. Much better than the 2013. Drink in 2020.
Wine EnthusiastThis Cabernet Sauvignon, with 11% Merlot added, offers intense ripeness and a plush texture of soft tannins. Rich blackberry jam and chocolate flavors are layered with soy and leather notes, benefitting from integrated oak.
Wine SpectatorRuggedly tannic, more sturdy than supple, with a mix of tough-edged, extracted dark berry, loamy earth and cedary oak notes. The strength of the tannins are a concern. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 23,792 cases made.
