Château Malescasse Haut Médoc 2000 5L
Wine SpectatorLoads of crushed raspberries, minerals and spices on the nose. Full-bodied, and concentrated, yet very refined and tight. A lovely elegant claret. Seriously good. Best after 2005. 13,330 cases made.
Wine AdvocateA strong effort from this property, which tends to produce solid, tannic, charmless wines, the 2000 exhibits more density, richness, and fruit than I have seen in recent vintages. Sweet black currant and cherry notes intermixed with balsa wood and soil nuances are interwoven into a medium-bodied wine with ripe tannin and excellent persistence. Anticipated maturity: now-2010.
