Viña Cobos Felino Chardonnay 2011
|Appellation||Lujan de Cuyo|
Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Felino Chardonnay is whole cluster pressed from vines planted in Lujan de Cuyo, Tupungato and San Carlos. All but 5% is aged in stainless steel with just a smattering of new oak. It has a light bouquet of linden and Mirabelle that is defined but tightly coiled at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet coconut and shaved ginger-tinged entry. It is nicely balanced, the finish imbued with touches of honeysuckle and orange zest. Fine. Drink now-2016.
Wine EnthusiastToasty, oaky and a bit lemony on the nose, this has baked apple notes that are friendly. It feels round and honeyed, with toasty, candied flavors that veer toward pear, apple and honey. Resin and cinnamon flavors work the soft, sweet-tasting finish.
Wine SpectatorRipe, with enough cut to the candied apple, green plum and spice notes to linger in the round, cream-tinged finish. Drink now.
